Traditional vintage lace christening robe, bonnet & shoes
Fit for a royal princess this christening robe has been made in a traditional high waisted style using vintage lace from a wedding dress. Therefore is a one off that cannot be repeated!
The skirt is made of three layers; the underskirt is silk, the middle skirt chiffon and the upper skirt lace with beautiful intricate embroidery and scalloped edges. Each layer is a metre of fabric! The dress fastens at the back with a zip fastening. The waist is finished with a tiny scalloped lace trim and the skirt decorated with tiny roses. The sleeves are elasticated, have a neat pleat and are also finished with a tiny rose.
The bonnet is also edged with the tiny scalloped lace, is finished with tiny roses and has ribbon ties.
The shoes are beautifully ornate, constructed out of the silk, lace and a lightweight sole with velcro fastening to the straps and a tiny rose on the side.
Measurements ; dress - chest 24 ins, bodice to hem 32 ins, shoulder to hem 40 ins, sleeve shoulder to 'cuff' 8ins
bonnet - around face edge 15 ins
shoes - heel to toe 5 1/4 ins, across instep to sole each side 3 1/2 ins
As I have used a wedding dress to create these items they have not been constructed from scratch-therefore there will be evidence of the original seam lines etc but these are on the inside and do not show or effect the outside appearance and meant I could make the most of the original features of the dress.
